PEANUT THE SQUIRREL 2018 – 2024
PEANUT AND FRED, GONE FOREVER. IN LEU OF FLOWERS SEND DONATIONS TO THE MONGOS ANIMAL RESCUE.
By A Squirrel Poet Contributor
In a nook near Albany, where the sun shines bright, Lived Peanut the squirrel, a pure delight. With his cowboy hat and a heart so grand, He brought joy and love to the Mongo land.
Alongside him, Fred the raccoon did roam, A mischievous buddy, always at home. With Peanut, he’d play from dawn till noon, Two pals in the yard, under the moon.
But one fateful day, the DEC came by, Flexing their muscles, with a stern eye. They claimed it was law, but we all knew, Peanut and Fred, they were innocent too.
No rabies, no danger, just love and cheer, Yet they took them away, causing many a tear. The workers and director, with power to wield, Turned a happy home into a battlefield.
Though they’re gone now, their spirits remain, In the hearts of the Mongos, easing the pain. Rest in peace, dear Peanut and Fred, Your laughter and love, forever widespread.
