HARRY AND MEGHAN SAID THEY WERE INTERNET INFLUENCERS

Harry Windsor is no longer the charming, mischievous boy of yesteryear; he is now a grown, married man burdened with a significant chip on his shoulder. According to well-placed sources (members of Vice President within the Colombian government, both Harry and Meghan Markle insinuated or “heavily implied” that they were “Internet influencers,” leading Vice President Francia Elena Márquez Mina’s staff to mistakenly assume the couple held some measure of diplomatic “influence” when in fact, neither Harry nor Meghan took a single step to correct the misperception they created.

The Colombians feel misled, embarrassed, and disappointed. The Vice President of Colombia, Mrs. Márquez held the belief that Prince Harry, as the son of the reigning King of the United Kingdom, might be in a position to secure favours and services from his father, King Charles III of the United Kingdom. Likewise, it was assumed that Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, yielded some measure of influence within the United States.

As a result, Colombian citizens who are living below the poverty line now face an additional financial burden. They will have to cover the nearly $2 million cost of the couple’s security through their taxes.

Upon their departure from Colombia, it was observed that Harry travelled directly to the UK with minimal security, further exacerbating feelings of betrayal among the Colombians. That “worry-free” last-minute flight to the UK crystallised to the Colombians that they had been misled.

This debacle is reminiscent of the historical controversy involving King Edward and Wallis Simpson, when they chose to defy the Crown by visiting Adolf Hitler in Germany. Those actions disrupted established treaties and diplomatic agreements that had taken years to negotiate.

Adding to the controversy, Meghan Markle recently faced a setback with her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) denied her bid to trademark the name, citing that it is “primarily geographically descriptive.” This refusal has further complicated the couple’s public image and business endeavours.

Given the Sussex couple’s conduct and discourse, which demonstrate a degree of reckless immaturity in their manner of self-presentation, it would be advisable for His Majesty King Charles III to revoke their titles of Duke and Duchess at the earliest legally permissible opportunity. Permitting them to retain these titles may foreseeably lead to detrimental consequences for the future of the monarchy.
