Los Gatos ‘Party Mom’ Sentenced to Over 35 Years for Orchestrating Teen Drinking Parties. The 52-year-old mother of two was convicted earlier this year on 16 felonies and dozens of misdemeanors for hosting years of secret alcohol-fueled parties for teenagers, many as young as 14 and 15 years old.

O’Connor, also known as Shannon Bruga, turned her Los Gatos mansion into a notorious party house during 2020 and 2021. Prosecutors said she actively supplied vodka, Fireball whiskey, and other liquor to minors, provided condoms, and encouraged sexual encounters among the intoxicated teens, some of whom were too drunk to consent.

The disturbing scheme reportedly involved O’Connor pressuring young girls into sexual situations with boys while she watched. In one chilling incident, she allegedly handed a teenage boy a condom and pushed him into a room with an intoxicated 14-year-old girl. Victims described waking up to assaults or finding themselves in dangerous situations enabled by the so-called Party Mom.

Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen condemned O’Connor’s actions, stating she not only failed to protect the children but actively endangered them, coordinated assaults, and tried to silence victims by urging them not to tell their parents or authorities. One teen reportedly passed out in her own vomit, while another fell from a moving vehicle after leaving a party.

During the emotional sentencing hearing, more than a dozen victims and their families delivered powerful impact statements. Many called O’Connor a “monster” who stole their childhoods and left lasting trauma. Judge Elizabeth Peterson found multiple aggravating factors, noting that O’Connor preyed on vulnerable children with sophistication.

In her brief address to the court, O’Connor expressed shame and regret, acknowledging the pain she caused to the families and her own children. However, the judge imposed the near-maximum sentence, emphasizing the profound betrayal of parental trust.

The conviction and harsh sentence send a strong message about parental responsibility and the protection of minors. O’Connor will also be required to register as a sex offender upon any eventual release.

This case has rocked the affluent Los Gatos community and highlighted the hidden dangers of unsupervised teen gatherings during the pandemic years. Authorities hope the outcome brings some closure to the victims who bravely came forward.
