Lincoln University Homecoming Mass Shooting 2025 erupted late Saturday night, October 25, 2025, shattering the historic HBCU’s annual celebration in Oxford, Chester County, Pennsylvania. One student, Kada Scott, 22, a junior criminal justice major from Philadelphia, was killed in the Lincoln University shooting outside the International Cultural Center (ICC). Six others were injured, including three Lincoln University students:

  • Aaliyah Jenkins, 19, sophomore nursing major from Baltimore
  • Marcus Hale, 21, senior business administration major from Chester
  • Jamal Reese, 18, freshman engineering student from Wilmington, Delaware

Non-student victims include Tiana Brooks, 24, from Oxford; Devon Whitaker, 25; and an unidentified 20-year-old female. All gunshot victims were rushed to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware, with conditions ranging from stable to critical.

Keon King, 21, from Coatesville, PA, was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree murder, six counts of aggravated assault, and weapons violations. Authorities recovered a semi-automatic handgun matching shell casings from the Lincoln University Homecoming shooting, with 12–15 rounds fired during a dispute that escalated rapidly.

The Lincoln University mass shooting occurred around 9:12 p.m. during Yardfest tailgate festivities following the Lions’ football game. Over 1,000 students, alumni, and visitors were present at the HBCU homecoming event, a tradition since 1854 at America’s first degree-granting historically Black university.

Lincoln University Police Chief Marc Partee, Chester County DA Chris de Barrena-Sarobe, and Pennsylvania State Police led the response, with FBI involvement in the ongoing Chester County shooting investigation. President Brenda A. Allen canceled classes and deployed grief counselors, while Governor Josh Shapiro called for prayers for the Lincoln University community.

This HBCU homecoming shooting marks the latest in a string of gun violence at Black college events, following incidents at Florida A&M, Virginia State, and others. Advocacy groups like Newtown Action Alliance condemned the tragedy, demanding gun violence prevention and campus safety reform.

Viral X videos captured the chaos—crowds fleeing under emergency lights—as #LincolnUniversityShooting trended nationwide. A candlelight vigil for Kada Scott drew hundreds, with mourners chanting “Justice for Kada” outside the ICC.
