TRAUMA IS A THIEF

Growing up as a Navy brat in a very disturbed family that included sexual and physical abuse by his father, abandonment, and multiple family addictions, in Trauma Is a Thief, his memoir, Dr. Neal King uses his own experiences to explain the developmental and lifelong impact of trauma.

Neal King, PhD, has worn many hats throughout his distinguished career—as a psychologist and psychotherapist, professor of psychology, author, keynote speaker, and President of Antioch College. In his clinical practice, Dr. King has worked extensively with survivors of trauma.

Dr. King has advised accreditation bodies, participated in United Nations educational groups, and helped found LGBTQ Presidents in Higher Education — a national organization that supports and empowers LGBTQ leaders in academia.

Whether transforming a university, speaking on global stages, or writing about healing, Neal King’s life and work reflect a rare mix of courage, compassion, and conviction.
