GETTING TO KNOW BARNEY ROSENZWEIG

Several years ago, Stewart and I had the opportunity to meet Barney Rosenzweig at an event where his wife, actress Sharon Gless, was a guest speaker. Barney was there to support Sharon, and we attended with the intention of interviewing her for our video show, Alive on South Beach. While waiting for the speeches to conclude, we struck up a conversation with Barney. His name was instantly familiar to us from the credits of the long-running police drama Cagney & Lacey, where he served as the Executive Producer. Sharon Gless, alongside Tyne Daly, starred in this award-winning and ground-breaking TV series.

At the time, Barney was enjoying his retirement and searching for engaging activities to fill his days, while Stewart was always on the lookout for interesting people to interview. The timing was perfect. When Barney was in town, he would visit our home/studio for sit-down conversations with Stewart. As the videographer, I filmed these sessions and got to know Barney.

Barney’s talents extend beyond producing; he is also a writer. Stewart and I were fortunate to have an internet platform where we could share Barney’s musings, which include recommendations about movies and TV shows he had watched, as well as vivid descriptions of places he had visited.

When Barney isn’t luxuriating in “Paradise” (his home on an exclusive Island near Miami Beach), spending time with his family in Los Angeles, or binging on Broadway shows in New York, many starring his friends, he is busy writing. His second memoir (title yet to be decided) is expected to be released sometime in the spring. Meanwhile, Barney continues to be Barney, living life with his characteristic passion and creativity.
