REMEMBER WHEN THE USA… ©

By JOE RICHARDS

Once kids learned their ABC's,
and they learned their 1,2,3's,
And maybe a bit of history,
I remember vividly.
Now they delve into CRT
and choose their gender identity.
The President chooses not to see,
The economy's woes,
the people's plea.
Borders are dangerously open, free.

As strangers invade quite mercilessly.
Cops were once heroes, in tales of old,
Now the story's changed, or so we're told.
No bail for the bad, just freedom bold,
We ponder the path, the future we mold.

Mornings meant work, a daily grind,
Now home's the office, with rest combined.
News once clear, now we find,
Guesswork reigns with truth confined.

Woke was simple, just rise and shine,
Now it's complex and a sign of the times.
Gay meant happy, life divine,
Rainbows in skies was just weather aligned.

Red, white, and blue, for you and me,
A symbol of hope, for the brave and free.
May we recall, in unity,
Our nation's dream, its destiny.

Mornings meant work, a daily grind,
Now home's the office, with rest combined.
News once clear, now we find,
Guesswork reigns with truth confined.

Woke was simple, just rise and shine,
Now it's complex and a sign of the times.
Gay meant happy, life divine,
Rainbows in skies was just weather aligned.

Red, white, and blue, for you and me,
A symbol of hope, for the brave and free.
May we recall, in unity,
Our nation's dream, its destiny.
