FEDERAL JUDGE ORDERS MARSHALS TO SEIZE MIAMI COMMISSIONER JOE CAROLLO’S ASSETS

According to the Real Deal ¹, Mad Room LLC and its affiliates, which include Ball & Chain, Taquerias El Mexicano, Little Havana Arts Building, and La Gran Fiesta, filed a lawsuit against the city of Miami for $27.9 million in damages caused by the closings of Ball & Chain bar and Taquerias el Mexicano restaurant. The lawsuit alleges that Miami officials broke laws and acted unethically in shutting down the nightlife venue and restaurant ¹.

The lawsuit is the latest in a feud between Mad Room Hospitality and Miami Commissioner Joe Carollo that has been ongoing since 2018. Carollo allegedly targeted Ball & Chain and the developer’s other properties because Fuller supported an opposing candidate in the 2017 election ¹.

The case was filed on September 30, 2021, and can be found in the FLSD Docket under Case 1:21-cv-23485-XXXX Document 1 ¹.
