President Donald Trump sent a personal letter congratulating a Jewish bride and groom for their wedding.  Shlomo Segal and Devorah Ganz were married at Ateres Chynka hall in Brooklyn, NY.

Mr. Segal is the son of Rabbi Nate Segal, an informal Jewish advisor to Senator Rand Paul (R-KY).

The letter was hand-delivered by Sergio Gor, Sen. Paul’s Communications Director. Gor described Rabbi Segal as “the biggest macher” as he read out the letter on the wedding dance floor.

In the Yiddish slang dictionary, a macher is (an important person).  The word “macher” comes from the German word macher which means “maker”. It is used to describe a man who has produced a lot of himself and others.

“Congratulations on your wedding! Melania and I wish your family and friends in celebrating this joyous occasion and your love and commitment to one another,” the President wrote. “As you embark on this journey together, may your hearts grow fonder and your love deeper each day, and may God continue to bless your life together.”
