Tragic Brooklyn Crash Linked to Wigmaker’s Reckless Driving and NYPD Lawsuit Fallout
Being raped repeatedly by an NYPD COP doesn’t condone crashing her car into a family but it may explain how she became so reckless.
On March 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM EST, a devastating car crash in Brooklyn’s Midwood neighborhood claimed the lives of Natasha Saada, 34, and her daughters, Diana, 8, and Deborah, 5, while leaving her 4-year-old son, Philip, critically injured.
The driver, Miriam Yarimi, a 32-year-old wigmaker and social media influencer, allegedly sped through a red light on Ocean Parkway near Quentin Road at 68 mph—nearly three times the 25 mph speed limit—while driving on a suspended license.
Who is Miriam Yarimi? She is the girl everyone tried to “quiet down.” She is the girl who was targeted by an NYPD sexual predator, George Mastrokostas. He arrested her for shoplifting when she was 13 and raped her from the time she was 14 until she finally lost her fear of him. What did he do? He blackmailed and raped her for years and told people she was a prostitute. This “he said – she said” took place between a man and an adolescent. Yarimi remained angry for years. Her anger manifested itself again when she saw a crowd and chose to drive through it.

The anger exploded into a tragedy when the Saada family walked home from Shabbat services at Congregation Shaare Zion, sparking outrage and renewed scrutiny of Yarimi’s history with the NYPD.
Miriam Yarimi had carried a horrific anger against NYPD because they would not believe her claims that the same police officer that arrested her when she was 13 had been raping her for years. NYPD brass didn’t begin to believe her until he turned the same behavior on another famale. She too claimed that Georgio Mastrokostas had been raping ruining her life and the behavior was the same as he had done with Yarimi. NYPD did not actually begin to believe her until the second girl surfaced. Yarimi’s case was settled but her fury remained as ardent as ever. We cannot condone manslaughter but we should try to learn what made such a young person so hateful and angry.
This case was a tragedy all the way around. Read the details before passing judgement.

A History of Reckless Driving
Miriam Yarimi, known for her custom wigs and a lavish lifestyle flaunted on social media, had amassed 93 to 99 traffic violations since August 2023, including 20–21 speeding tickets and five red-light violations, totaling over $10,000 in fines. Her blue Audi A3 (vanity plate “WIGM8KER”) was cited for speeding in a Brooklyn school zone on March 16, 2025.
Social media posts, including a video admitting she drove “like a chicken without a head” while delivering wigs, underscored her reckless behavior. After a $2 million settlement with the NYPD in December 2023, Yarimi reportedly purchased a custom Porsche 718 Boxster, fueling her high-speed driving habits.
She allegedly defied NYPD officers by revving her engine and accelerating past squad cars, with most officers avoiding confrontation due to her notoriety.
The Fatal Crash
The Saada family was crossing Ocean Parkway after services when Yarimi’s Audi collided with a Toyota Camry Uber, then struck the pedestrians. Natasha, Diana, and Deborah were pronounced dead at the scene and later confirmed deceased at Maimonides Medical Center.
Philip suffered critical injuries, including skull fractures, brain bleeding, and the loss of one kidney, remaining in critical condition. The Uber driver and passengers sustained minor injuries.
That evening, Shomrei Hadas Chapels in Borough Park collected the bodies, and arrangements were made to fly them to Har HaMenuchot in Jerusalem for burial, accompanied by Natasha’s father. Sidney Saada, the husband, stayed with their surviving son, Jacob, 5, and Philip.
Yarimi’s Legal Battle with the NYPD
Yarimi’s conflict with the NYPD stemmed from her allegations against former Officer George Mastrokostas. In 2006, at age 13, she was arrested by Mastrokostas for alleged shoplifting.
She claimed he groomed and raped her over several years, a charge Mastrokostas denied, asserting a consensual relationship began in 2010 when she was 17. The 2014 Internal Affairs Bureau (IAB) investigation found her allegations “unsubstantiated” due to insufficient evidence. She wasn’t actually “truly” believed until he did something similar to another female victim. She was basically daring any cop to pull her over and she’d actually say, “Go ahead, I’ll sue you again.” She was furious and rightly so.
Yarimi sued the NYPD in June 2023, and the city settled for $2 million in December 2023, a sum she reportedly felt was inadequate, with her attorneys pushing for the settlement. Her anger reportedly fueled her defiant driving.
Mastrokostas’s Disciplinary Record
The provided document, a FINAL ORDER OF DISMISSAL signed by then-Commissioner Keechant Sewell, details Mastrokostas’s misconduct, leading to his dismissal effective after proceedings in 2022. Key findings include:
- Case 2020-21673 (June 19–20, 2019): Mastrokostas, assigned to the 32nd Precinct, engaged in conduct prejudicial to the department by stalking a woman (referred to as “Person A”), making repeated calls and threats, causing her to fear for her safety (Specification 1, Guilty). He made false statements during a June 20, 2019, interview, denying unauthorized database queries about Person A and her father (Specification 5, Guilty). He was not guilty of impeding the investigation (Specification 4) or violating residence rules by living on a boat (Specification 6).
- Case 2021-23512 (2020): Mastrokostas published Person A’s private information by leaving her phone number in video store booths with instructions for explicit messages, corroborated by forensic handwriting analysis showing he “probably did write” the notes (Specification 1, Guilty). He also left his residence without permission while on sick report 12 times between August 2 and November 9, 2020 (Specification 2, Guilty). Assistant Deputy Commissioner Paul M. Gamble noted Mastrokostas showed no remorse, describing his actions as “cowardly and petty,” inconsistent with departmental values.
Mastrokostas, appointed July 1, 2004, had a prior 2015 disciplinary action for directing towing companies to accident scenes in violation of DARP procedures. His dismissal followed a pattern of deceit and misconduct, though he retired before it took effect. Through the years, whether men or women, once they reported on Mastrokostas, his victims would soon drop their complaints.
Aftermath and Community Response
Yarimi, treated at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn and later transferred to Bellevue Hospital’s psychiatric ward, faces charges including three counts of second-degree manslaughter, reckless driving, and aggravated unlicensed operation, with arraignment set for April 16, 2025. She claimed to medics she was “possessed” and alleged CIA surveillance. The Saada family’s loss has united Brooklyn’s Orthodox community in grief, with memorials at the crash site and calls for stricter traffic laws from State Senator Andrew Gounardes. As Sidney Saada mourns and hopes for Philip’s recovery, Yarimi’s case highlights the intersection of personal trauma, legal accountability, and public safety.

The million-dollar question is, “how” was one person allowed to thumb their nose at the law for so long and not a thing was ever done about it.
