SUSAN LORINCZ
BY RUTHIE DITUCCI
Susan Lorincz from Ocala, Florida, has garnered significant attention due to the tragic circumstances and the ongoing legal proceedings.
Susan Lorincz, 59, is accused of shooting and killing her neighbor, Ajike “AJ” Owens, a 35-year-old mother of four, during a confrontation on June 2, 2023. Owens had approached Lorincz’s home to confront her about throwing a pair of roller skates at her children.
Lorincz is facing charges of manslaughter with a firearm and assault. The incident occurred when Owens knocked on Lorincz’s door to address a dispute involving her children.
The case has seen multiple hearings, with both sides arguing over what evidence should be admissible during the trial. Jury selection for the trial is set to begin on August 12, 2024.
Prosecutors have filed motions to include past incidents where Lorincz made derogatory statements (multiple witnesses report Lorincz called the children and their mother, “n*ggers” and called law enforcement about neighborhood children playing in the properly designated area all the time. The homes have a shared area in the center of the homes, but for years, Lorincz behaved as though that area was hers alone. The defense is arguing to exclude these incidents from the trial.
