Tiger Woods
won for the 4th time this season as he surgically took apart the Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra at the Players Championship. Opting to use Driver only once, on the par 5 15th hole, Tiger negotiated his way around with only 1 hiccup, a double bogie at the 14th hole.

Using strategy similar to his British Open win at Hoylake, Tiger hit fairway woods or irons as precision was more important than distance.

Angles into the greens was the key in setting up the victory. Woods’ -2 round resulted in a -13 total, two ahead of Kevin Streelman, David Lingmerth and 49 year old Jeff Maggert. Maggert’s swing is the sweetest on tour in my opinion. He doubled bogied #17 to drop out of the lead with Tiger. Sergio Garcia found the water twice after trying to hit it close at 17 and ended with a disasterous 7 on the nightmarish par 3 Island Green. Over 40,000 fans attended the event.
