John McEuen’s varied SyndicatedNews.NET Web site is revving up its activities.

“We’ll be doing a lot more p.r. to say that it’s now available—and legitimate,” says McEuen, who remains best known as a founding member of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

The acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, who also hosts the Acoustic Traveller satellite radio show on SiriusXM‘s The Village folk channel, came to the site when its founder, Internet entrepreneur Ruthie DiTucci, approached him.

“She was looking for a partner, and I said, ‘Why me?’” McEuen recalls. “She said, ‘You play acoustic music that you can find on NPR, that gets good reviews and is non-offensive. You know everybody in show business, and you’re scandal-free! You fit the bill.’”

So McEuen has added the post of SyndicatedNews.NET’s CEO/musical director to his resume, and hosts The Americana Music Show, accessed on blogtalkradio.com via a SyndicatedNews.NET link. DiTucci serves as president/operations coordinator and co-hosts the Tell Us: Coast To Coastinterview show.

Other programming on the growing site includes actress Illeana Douglas’s Easy To Assemble show. McEuen notes that Jimmy Church, the site’s sportscaster, was talking about the Jerry Sandusky/Penn State scandal four days before anyone else.

When it began, SyndicatedNews.NET was a plain black-and-white site, McEuen adds.

“I started getting contributors like Sandy Jacobson, who does all these music interviews in L.A. for a show called Backstage: Los Angeles,” he continues.

“We introduced an environmental section,Green Earth News, and started getting hits immediately–and a contributor who wanted to write about her green [inspired] house. We put up pages for different topics, departments and countries.”

To date, the site has several entertainment-related sections along with general interest categories including fashion, politics, family matters, food and science.

But “all this stuff is in the nascent stage,” McEuen stresses. “We hope the site will be a filtering device for basic information, whether it’s music or health or real estate or whatever.”December 12, 2014

To this end, he reports that SyndicatedNews.NET’s music articles are now being archived by the Library of Congress as “important American music history items.”

And with that the New York-based McEuen is off to Jamaica to do a story for the site’s Travel section–but he’ll be back in time to attend this week’s APAP|NYC 2012 conference. Of course, he’s still got the usual 120 or so cities a year to visit with The Dirt Band, and a solo album, The McEuen Sessions, forthcoming in March.
