[Forbes]  Johnny Depp and Amber Heard settled their divorce last August and Heard dismissed, with prejudice, allegations that the movie star physically abused her. Depp was set to pay Heard almost $7 million. Shortly after the settlement was reached, Heard announced that she would be donating the settlement to American Civil Liberties Union and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Sparring ensued when Depp offered to give the money directly to the charities.  After Heard did not receive a Nov. 1, 2016 payment, her attorneys filed a Request for Order (RFO) to force Depp to pay.

It can be assumed that Depp is not forking over the money because of the attacks Heard has been launching at him via social media. In court documents, she revealed that “I endured excessive emotional, verbal, and physical abuse from Johnny, which has included angry, hostile, humiliating, and threatening assaults to me whenever I questioned his authority or disagreed with him.” She also said “I live in fear that Johnny will return to (our house) unannounced to terrorize me, physically, and emotionally.”

Last month Heard was on GirlGaze via YouTube making statements like “As a woman having gone through this in the public stage, in the public arena that I did it, I have a unique opportunity to remind other women this doesn’t have to be the way it is, you don’t have to do it alone, you’re not alone. We can change this.” One can only assume that she was talking about her former spouse. The “character assassination” did not sit well with Depp, who has accused Heard of breaching confidentiality, thus breaching the settlement agreement.

‘I truly feared my life was in danger’: Amber Heard granted restraining order against Johnny Depp claiming he launch
ed iPhone at her face in a ‘pitcher throw’ leaving her bruised in ‘one of several alleged incidents of domestic violence’ before the split. Now they’re both headed for court again because Penn does not want to pay anything.

Depp, via his lawyers, had said “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation, and lies about his personal life.”

Just when we thought this story had a happy ending: the end to a bitter divorce and $7 million going to charity, it looks like lawyers might be battling it out once again to see who breached. Did Heard breach settlement terms by insinuating that Depp was abusive or did Depp breach by not making payments? It will be up to the lawyers, and possibly a judge, to determine if Heard was bound by certain obligations (e.g. confidentiality), and if she indeed breached those obligations. If she did not, possibly by never naming Depp in her social media appearances, then a court might very well order Depp to make payments, possibly with penalty.
