Dwayne Stafford

Dwayne Stafford, 26, bashed Roof several times in the face and body before a jail guard pulled Stafford off the “church murderer.”

The jailhouse beating made Stafford an internet star with strangers pledging to send him cash.

“Dylann Roof was assaulted by an inmate named Dwayne Stafford. Put some money in his commissary for a job well done,” someone named Shane Morris tweeted.

“Whoever assaulted Dylan Roof in jail? Get that man a Whopper!” wrote another Twitter user, a reference to the cops who arrested Roof in 2015 and bought him a meal at Burger King before carting him off to jail.

Roof, 22, was not seriously injured in the bathroom beatdown and returned to his cell to nurse his bruises after jail medical staffers checked him out.

droofOfficials initially said Stafford would be charged with assault, but Cannon later said Roof and his lawyer will not press charges.

Roof has been in protective custody since being brought to the jail after the June 17, 2015, racist rampage at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston that left nine dead.

He faces the death penalty in upcoming trials in federal and state courts.

Dylann Roof’s sister crowdfunding for her HONEYMOON after she was forced to cancel her wedding due to the Charleston massacre

  • Amber Roof was set to marry U.S. Army Reserve Recruiter Michael Tyo at The Mitchell House and Gardens in Lexington on June 21
  • Her GoFundMe page asked for $5,000 to recoup ‘lost wedding costs, to pay bills, and to send us on our dream honeymoon’
  • Said she would give 10 per cent of donations to Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where her brother allegedly shot dead nine people
  • But on Thursday afternoon –  five days and $1,600 into the fundraiser – the GoFundMe page was taken down

Dylann Roof’s sister has been asking for your donations to help send her on a dream honeymoon.

Amber Roof, 27, called off her nuptials after her brother murdered nine black churchgoers in a racially motivated massacre.

She was due to wed Michael Tyo on June 21 – just four days after the atrocity.

But now it has emerged she set up a GoFundMe page called ‘A Fresh Start for Michael and Amber’, in which she asked for $5,000 to help recoup ‘lost wedding costs, to pay bills, and to send us on our dream honeymoon’.

As news of the campaign spread, critics assailed it as insensitive and offensive. By Thursday afternoon – five days and $1,600 into the fundraiser – the page appeared to have been taken down.

Dear Family & Friends,

As many of you know Michael and I had to abruptly cancel our wedding day, due to the tragedy that occurred in Charleston. June 21st was suppose (sic) to be the happiest day of our lives.

It is the day every girl dreams of, it was the day we dreamed of. We had each other, we have the perfect venue, and we had our vows ready to be read. We were ready! We had planned out every detail for months and months. It was going to be the PERFECT day!

Our wedding day was suppose to be the most important and special day of our lives. It was suppose to start our lives together with our new family. Our day was the exact opposite. Our wedding day was full of sorrow, pain, and shame, tainted by the actions of one man.

The Charleston Massacre took place and our lives were forever changed. The media abused our privacy and published all of our wedding information and destroyed our dream day. Destroying the first day of Michael and my life together.

We cancelled our wedding to protect our family and mourn the lives of those lost. Many friends and family members came into town and took time off of work to be there for us. We could not ask you to do that again.

We would like the chance to start our lives on a postive note. Therefore, we have decided to start a Go Fund Me account. We know money cannot replace the wedding we lost and our perfect day, however it will help us to create new memories and a new start with our new family.

Money raised will be used to cover lost wedding costs, to pay bills, and to send us on our dream honeymoon. 10% of all funds raised will be donated to Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. We thank you for any contrabution you can make.

Our lives have been forever changed and touched by all the love and support you have shown us through this difficult time. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS! GOD BLESS!

Love, The Tyo’s
