I (Dena Stewart) enjoyed this movie a lot, and so did Stewart (Stewart). He referred to SECOND ACT as a “chick flick” that even guys would find entertaining. And, there were some messages to walk away with, as well. Such as, 1) If you want to succeed in the competitive corporate world, a college degree is necessary. 2) It helps if the college is a prestigious university. 3) Years of experience and street-smarts only get you so far. 4) Truth pays off. 5) Know who you are!

Mary Queen of Scots opens with Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland, going to the chopping block to be beheaded after being imprisoned by her cousin, Elizabeth Tudor, Queen of England. The movie then goes into the back story and what led to her execution by effectively showing Sixteenth Century misogyny, sexuality, rivalry, competitiveness, jealousy, women’s empowerment, sense of entitlement, and dysfunctional family connections.

In CREED II, Adonis Creed is challenged to fight Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago, the Russian boxer who killed his father Apollo Creed. CREED II focuses mostly on Adonis Creed’s grueling preparation for the fight, with the backstory about his changing personal life. He and his lady, Bianca, are about to have a baby. As with Rocky and all the Rocky sequels, it's clear who to cheer for and who to boo. When the Rocky theme played, we cheered for the winner.

Hugh Jackman portraying Gary Hart was excellent casting. Also, this movie is very timely. It got me thinking about then and now. Now, in 2018, while in this #MeToo era, would Gary Hart, a Yale graduate, a prominent Attorney, a Senator, be judged as harshly as he was then in 1987, or would his perceived indiscretions be forgiven?

Written with humor, empathy, honesty, intelligence, and love, this movie is a beautiful, very well-acted inspirational story about a couple who take on the monumental responsibility of adoption and learn to bond with their Instant Family.

This totally engaging film is about Marlo, a mother of three including a newborn, who is gifted by her brother with a "night nanny". Hesitant to accept the extravagance at first, Marlo comes to form a unique bond with the thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully.

This year, the MDC - Miami Film Festival celebrated its 35th anniversary with more than 100 foreign films featured. It was tough picking the ones to see, but I'm happy to say we picked winners, including TULLY (with Charlize Theron), FIRST REFORMED (Ethan Hawke, Amanda Seyfried), KISS ME NOT (Egyptian star Yasmine Rais), and LIFE IS A BITCH.

With perfectly-timed acerbic barbs laced with obscenities, sharply clever and achingly truthful dialogue, applaudable and cringe-worthy violence, and extraordinary acting by Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell, THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI is sure to be a classic cult film.

With perfect delivery and character development, LAST FLAG FLYING made me laugh, cry, and fully understand the depth of trauma, physical and mental, caused from serving in wars with no genuine meaning to the people who willingly give their life for their country.

Dark, intense, anger-provoking, and at times difficult to watch, this true depiction of racism, hatred, and the ugly abuse of power, must, fifty years later, be talked about and constructively dealt with until history stops repeating itself.

VALERIAN and THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS, directed by Luc Besson, was visually beautiful with incredibly magnificent 3-D special effects, and a few breathless moments.
