For Conversations with Stewart Stewart, a spin-off from Alive on South Beach, Stewart talks with Photographer Manny Hernandez who has made his mark on the Society Pages capturing images of celebrities and fashion icons at their best and their worst.

RUNNING WITH RAVEN

January 1, 1975, when Robert Kraft was 24 years old, he made a New Year’s Resolution to run eight miles every day. Now 66, he has run for more than 15,300 consecutive days and counting. His persistence and commitment over the years has attracted more than 2,600 runners from all over the world to run with him. Always shirtless, a black sweatband holding back his longish-black hair, black shorts, one black glove, and gray shoes, they dubbed him Raven. Laura Lee Huttenbach wrote a biography called "Running with Raven".

CIVILITY

Although we aspire to be upbeat, positive and kind, people are acting out in rude and aggressive ways towards one another. The lack of civility is becoming the acceptable norm. Center for Folk and Community Art (“CFCA”) wanted to create an awareness of this issue. So, we reached out to teenagers for their suggestions, having them use writing and art to communicate their experiences.

Stewart Stewart has a conversation with Patricia Posner (Trisha), an author/researcher, and fashionista, about her latest book, "The Pharmacist of Auschwitz", and her relationship with her partner/husband author/researcher Gerald Posner.

MIAMI BEACH MAYOR

Miami Beach is a relatively small town, but with big city issues. Governing the City with the intention of pleasing the locals (residents) and visitors is a complex balancing act. So, Stewart had a conversation with Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber to learn how he accomplishes this major task.

ART, BOOKS, BOTANICAL, AND HAT

In Episode 68 of "Alive on South Beach" Dena Stewart and Stewart Stewart go to Art Basel/Miami Beach, the Miami Book Fair (Miami Dade College), NATPE (National Association of Television Program Executives), A Taste of the Garden (Miami Beach Botanical Garden), and Art Deco Weekend street fair - where they discover less bling and more business.

BEAUTY, FOOD, AND FUN

Episode 66 of Alive on South Beach includes bathing beauties, French Baguettes, Rogue Lifestyle "toys" for the one-percenters, French Cuisine at its best, the re-opening of Espanola Way, and the reason being "Alive on South Beach" is so special.

Unfair!

Unfair! Unfair! How strongly have we felt that "life" was not fair? We’ve all experienced the burn of unfair treatment at one time or another, some life changing injustices and some real or perceived favoritism. So what did we do?

ALIVE ON SOUTH BEACH 65

In Episode 65 of Alive on South Beach, at the 2017 NATPE Miami Expo (National Association of Television Program Executives) Dena and Stewart spoke with reality star Brooke Hogan, along with several television content providers and hopefuls. Barney Rosenzweig, Television Producer visited the Stewarts in their studio to talk about his current interests, and at the Miami Book Fair, Tom Austin, former night-life columnist talks about his most memorable times on South Beach.

ART, BOOKS, MUSIC, PARTIES

Episode 64 of Alive on South Beach features Art Basel|Miami Beach; Jazz Stylist Nicole Henry; Brit Week; Miami Book Fair authors who talk about magic mushrooms and religion, and another author who talks about the exciting life of a celebrity bodyguard.

WHITING OUT

She still wore a white man-tailored shirt with a man’s black tie, although her face now was visibly older and her un-styled, uncombed stringy black hair had turned grungy gray. “Good for her,” I thought, with admiration. She remained true to herself and did not give a damn about impressing the kings and queens and crowned princes and princesses sitting in the first few rows of the enormous concert hall in Stockholm Sweden.

SOUTH BEACH JAZZ FESTIVAL

1st ANNUAL SOUTH BEACH JAZZ FESTIVAL - Each musical performance will showcase the artistry of at least one person with a disability. The sheer talent of the artists will promote the festival’s dual goal, to entertain, and to define others by ability rather than disability.

PSYCHEDELIC GOSPELS

Throughout medieval Christianity, religious works of art emerged to illustrate the teachings of the Bible. Much of the artwork and icons have images of psychoactive mushrooms and plants. Using this visual evidence to document the role of visionary plants in Christianity,“The Psychedelic Gospels" reveals that Christianity may indeed have had a psychedelic history.
