Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations-West Bureau’s Special Assault Section detectives are seeking additional victims and witnesses in a series of sexual assaults in the Los Angeles area.
On January 19, 2023, a 41-year-old woman reported that Gabriel Olds, a 52-year-old Los Angeles resident, raped her at her home in Los Angeles. Two additional adult victims later came forward and made similar reports dating back to 2013, describing consensual dating encounters that descended into violent sexual assault.
On July 19, 2024, The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office charged Olds with seven felony sexual assault charges and the Los Angeles Superior Court issued a warrant for his arrest for $3.5 million.
On August 7, 2024, around 9:40 a.m., West Bureau investigators arrested Olds near the area of Norway Lane and Norman Place. Olds was subsequently booked for the arrest warrant. The Booking number is 6861030.
Gabriel Emerson Olds, born on March 24, 1972, in New York City, is an American actor and writer. His career spans several decades, and he’s been involved in both television and film. Gabriel Olds is the son of poet Sharon Olds (a Pulitzer Prize winner) and psychiatrist Dr. David Olds. His parents divorced in 1997. His father left his mother for a colleague.
Olds is perhaps best known for his portrayal of American minister Pat Robertson in the 2021 film “The Eyes of Tammy Faye.” His performance garnered attention, but now his name is associated with a different kind of spotlight.
Over the years, he has appeared in various TV shows, including “CSI,” “Medium,” “Six Feet Under,” “E-Ring,” “Commander in Chief,” and more. He’s been a familiar face on the small screen, popping up in police procedurals and dramas alike.
Gabriel Olds acting career started at a young age. At just 15, he graced the stage at The Public Theater in New York, performing in a production of Shakespeare’s “Measure for Measure” in 1987.
His breakout role was in the two-part Disney Sunday Movie “14 Going on 30” (ABC, 1988), featuring a plot similar to the age-shifting theme in the film “Big.” Picture the adolescent version of Tom Hanks’s character, and you have the correct idea.
Olds made his Broadway debut in “Any Given Day” (1993), a prequel to the Pulitzer Prize-winning play “The Subject Was Roses.” He also co-starred in Arthur Miller’s “A View from the Bridge” (also on Broadway), playing Rodolpho—an illegal immigrant who falls in love with Catherine, portrayed by Brittany Murphy. The play won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play.
The charges stem from alleged crimes against at least three victims. These women reported that Olds lured them into a false sense of security during initial encounters, only to turn violent without seeking their consent.

Detectives believe there may be more victims nationwide who have yet to come forward due to Olds’ travels as an actor.

Olds, a New York native, and graduate of Yale University, works as an actor and screenwriter with credits dating back to the early 1990s. His victims reported that he used his status as an Ivy League alumnus with success in the film industry to meet women to arrange dates. In recent years, several women reported meeting him via dating applications. Each victim reported that Olds lured them into a false sense of security during their initial encounters, then turned violent without seeking their consent.
Investigators have identified three women that Olds assaulted, as well as two additional women who reported lesser violent sexual conduct.
“We heard the same story again and again,” said Detective Brent Hopkins, a Special Assault Section supervisor. “Mr. Olds started off charming, but then used brutal violence to carry out these rapes. Some of these survivors suffered in silence for years before finding the strength to speak up. Now that he’s off the streets, we want to make sure everyone has a chance to be heard.”

The arrest warrant cites that the charges are for Felony Sexual Assaults and his bail stands at $3,500,000.00. He is being held at the Central Station Detention Center in Los Angeles.
