NEWS MEDIA LIST NOW USING AI
By Ruthie DiTucci
Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming quite prevalent in the news industry, as some news entities use it to generate, edit, or enhance their content. Some world renowned news entities have admitted that they use AI in some form.
NEWS ENTITIES WITH ONLINE WEBSITES ADMIT TO EMPLOYING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
SyndicatedNews.NET LLC as SNN.BZ was originally a neighborhood newspaper stapled by hand and delivered in person in New York City. Its name Syndicated News was known in the neighborhood long before the Internet existed. The SyndicatedNews domain names were registered years later with the advent of the world wide web. The com version of the name was sold to Wyith Industries in Hong Kong. The NET and ORG versions are still here.
SNN.BZ joins the many newspapers and their corresponding websites in accepting Artificial Intelligence and using it for its intended purposes. We at SNN.BZ are enjoying AI and its many literary and artistic gifts. The news sites now strongly using Artificial Intelligence are as follows:
The Berrow’s Worcester Journal is a weekly newspaper based in Worcester, England. It is one of the oldest newspapers in the world, dating back to 1690. It covers local and national news, sports, entertainment, and more.
The New York Times, while publicly traded has been governed by members of the Sulzberger Family since 1896. The current chairman and publisher of the company and the paper is A. G. Sulzberger, who is the fifth generation of the family to hold these positions therefore it is generally considered a “privately held” news corporation.
Its own history with artificial intelligence serves as an example that everyone in media is watching to see what happens. In 2015 the New York Times experimented with EDITOR. In 2023, they hired Marc Lavallee to “enhance” its writers’ work and in 2024, it sued Open AI and Microsoft for using its stories to train chatbots (which suggests the paper knew of possible risks to the news industry)
BuzzFeed, a digital media company, uses AI to create viral quizzes and headlines, as well as to optimize its content distribution and audience engagement.
Forbes, a business magazine, uses AI to help its contributors write and edit their articles, as well as to generate summaries, headlines, and images.
G/O Media, a digital media company, uses AI to produce product reviews and other content for its sites such as Gizmodo and Lifehacker.
News Corp Australia is a media conglomerate, using AI to create news summaries, headlines, and captions, as well as to monitor and moderate user comments.
Reuters, a global news agency, uses AI to generate financial news stories, sports recaps, and data visualizations, as well as to verify and enhance its multimedia content.
The Washington Post, a national newspaper, uses AI to produce breaking news stories, newsletters, and podcasts, as well as to personalize its content recommendations and advertisements. Their version of AI is named Heliograf (who has published thousands of articles).
There are thousands of newspapers, news entities and media related entities that use AI but have not admitted to it.
